Pathetic Arguments for a God :P
Thought you might want to hear from an intelligent Christian.
My position is known. I believe emphatically in the God of the Bible. But I’m a logical person, and there’s arguments for a God that make sense, and there’s those that…well, to be frank, aren’t even arguments.
This one is called the Warm Fuzzy.
“I feel like God exists. How else can you explain the feeling of closeness and warmth I get whenever I think about God? I just know He exists - I can feel His Love!”
Cute, but sorry. You could say the same thing about the fairies under your bed or the Grinch. Let’s make something totally clear,
Wanting something to exist, or believing it exists, will not affect that object’s actual state of existence. However hard I want cookies to appear in the cookie jar, the cookies either are or aren’t there. I cannot will God into existence just as I cannot will a purple elephant into existence.
There are, of course, those who would use the Warm Fuzzy in another way. They say,
“I feel like God doesn’t exist. If God leaves me alone and I leave him alone, everything will be OK. Right?”
Wrong again. If God exists, you cannot will him out of existence any more than wishing your attacker didn’t have a weapon will cause the weapon to dissapear.
I put this argument first because it is the most pathetic…it isn’t even an argument. Sometimes I get frustrated with Christians who refuse to think.

Thanks for sharing this. I agree this is a silly argument indeed, among many others. I understand from what you say that you believe in a god. And although you say you are a logical person, that very statement leads to the inevitable conclusion that you do not apply logic to your belief, or at least you don’t apply it properly.
However I applaud your ability to recognize some very poor ‘arguments’ when you see them.
Be reasonable
Fight the faith
